As a graduate of the Green MBA program (the program now housed at Dominican University of CA), I have learned the power of business to change the world. As a sector, business is much more agile than non-profits, and certainly moves more quickly than government.

And they use the word “conscious” a lot in their intro, so here’s hoping that is really what they mean. 😉

“Techniques of Hope: How Professionals and Professionalism can Stabilize the Markets and Change the World”
A Global Forum

Friday, March 26, 2010
9:00am – 4:30pm

The Levin Institute
116 East 55th Street
New York, NY 10022

Excerpts:

“This conference aims to set in motion what we call a “market movement”—an analog to recently successful social or political movements.  One of the hallmarks of recent political movements has been the understanding that each of our actions have larger consequences.”

“Just as more consciously taking individually [sic] steps to conserve energy translates into a more hopeful environmental politics, recognizing and deploying these techniques, behaviors and procedures in a more conscious and rigorous way can translate into a new market movement.”
